Graduation

Hello everyone!

How are you all doing? Good I hope. I pray God keeps you all well. Feel free to email me anytime with how you are doing. I would love to hear from you all J

Well these past two weeks have been crazy busy. Graduation was on Saturday. Most of the manangs for the past two weeks have been staying up late grading notebooks, papers, and tests to get the grades in. The Thursday and Friday before graduation was a frantic rush to finish everything; not only the grades, but awards, clean the house, prepare food, all the last minute things we had to do. All day Friday, as the teachers were clearing grades, I filled out all the paperwork for the department of education. I had papers scattered all throughout the office. It was quite a sight. The dep ed office closed at 5p. At 4p we were still finishing up all the paperwork. We didn’t even leave the house till 4.30. The whole car ride over, we prayed dep ed would stay open, that a nice lady would have a heart for us and let us turn in the grades. God certainly does answer prayers. We got there right at 5p. The lady manning the office was the sweetest lady. She let us finish up the paperwork in her office and didn’t mind at all that we were keeping her late. I totally did a victory dance after we handed over the paperwork!

Graduation was an incredible blessing, honor and privilege to be apart of. Being able to share in the excitement with all the kids, was wonderful. Those in kinder, 6th grade and the seniors were so excited. It is the one time each year where everyone dresses up in our “fancy clothes” and just have fun. I wore a dress and actual make-up for the first time since I’ve been here. In years prior, they usually invite the church members and whoever wants to come. This year, we kept it intimate so those kids that are protected could partake of the graduation fun! I liked it just being family and a few guests. I had the honor of announcing my 2nd and 3rd graders and giving them awards. When their names were called, their faces lit up. It was absolutely wonderful! I know this sounds silly, but I am going to miss my 3rd graders. We will still live in the same house, eating at the same table, but not seeing their little faces in my class everyday will be a hard adjustment. To ease the adjustment though, I will have a gaggle of new 2nd graders to keep me on my toes.

Other than graduation, not much has happened out of the norm here. We are now on summer break, yay and ahh. I will miss teaching. But now I can start on my quilt and help out in the kitchen (outside of the classroom, the kitchen is my favorite place).

Well that is it for now. Love you all and God bless,
            Kelsey
