Hello everyone! I hope your first week in the new year has been a great one! It's been the same ol' same ol' here. Still raising the barn and planting the fields. In the midst of all that we are preparing for the ccbf team, which comes in 10 days! I am so very excited for my family to come join me for two weeks. It will be fun showing them my life here and the relationships I have made with the kids and manangs. I'm especially excited for my mom who has never been here before. I trust she will fall in love with the kids as much as I have.
While talking to my dad this morning, he asked what I had been up too. I told him I'm kinda like caulk, I fill in the holes. Haha lately since we haven't had school, I help out wherever they need help; lively hood, special ed, kitchen, and now putting away books. I like all the odd and end jobs, it keep things fresh :)
A highlight of my week has been my time with two special ed boys. They, for whatever reason, have taken a liking to me lately. One of the boys after meals comes over to me and sits on my lap. He cups his hands over my hands, presses his head against my neck and we sing songs. His favorite song is a Christmas song I don't know the words too. So I sing the right tune and fill in the blanks. It's pretty comical but I look forward to it after every meal. Then the other boy always wants to hang out whether sitting on my lap or playing around. They have certainly been the bright spots in my week!
It has been delightfully cooler this week. We have had little showers on and off. It is a lovely break from the stifling heat.
I have been kinda obsessed with the band NeedToBreathe this past week. Their song "learn to love" has been on replay while I've been grading. I'll Ty to post it. " till we know the pain of a broken heart, we won't walk through the fires we didn't start...... Learn to love through the darkness and the light" and "I've had the fortune of a second chance, I know the reason why we dance" are my favorite lines of the song. I don't have any profound insights on the song, but slowly God is teaching me how to love through the darkness and the light.
Well I think that's it for now. I will be seeing some of you shortly (ccbf team). Stay safe and God bless!
Kelsey
