Hello all!
I hope you all had a great week and are not crazy busy with Christmas fast approaching. My home church gives shoeboxes to the kids here and I was blessed to hear that almost everyone had been chosen by the end of second service. The kids so look forward to the CCBF team. As excited as they are for Christmas, they keep telling me its almost time for the CCBF team to come J I, too, am looking forward to the team coming since my Family will be here for two weeks!
One small detail I forgot to mention in my last post was that we now have cows. We went to bed last night with five cows and woke up this morning with six! We knew, Bossy, was pregnant but thought she still had another month to go. The calf is adorable! She is all black, we aren’t sure if she will get spots later on. We are currently in the middle of building a barn for the birth but she obviously could not wait for us. Honey is also pregnant, so I think we are all hoping she at least holds on till the barn is finished. We are all just thankful that it was an easy birth since no one knew till it was all over. We will have to start singing “Home, Home on the Range, where the cattle and the carabow range”. Haha
School was pretty good this week. A little busy for me since I had to get all my kids finished with the current Lifepac and figure out where to start the new girls. Gauging where they are in all the subjects and how much English do they understand. Thankfully I had one of the new teachers as my interpreter. Without her, I don’t know what I would have done. She was my answer to my prayer asking for the gift of tongues. By Friday, all the kids were a little fried from reviewing and taking tests. Being that it was the last day for a few weeks, we spent the last half an hour belting Christmas carols at the top of our lungs! Haha we had such a great time. We sang some traditional American songs along with some philippino Christmas songs. We were all off key, some of us (me) didn’t know all the words and were just mumming, but it was a great way to end before the break. Sometimes I wish I could be like Mrs. Frizzle, wearing crazy dresses and taking the kids on fieldtrips to crazy places all the while singing made up tunes. That would be awesome!
The kids do a special Christmas program of singing and dancing, ect. I have been drafted into the program too! Yours truly is a Shepard! All the stages that we perform at are raised. Two of the other shepard’s are in wheelchairs so I am there to help lift them onto the stage. We have performed at two schools and here at the house. The kids absolutely love it! There are a few small ones that are so excited and have all the moves down. They are adorable. I’ll make sure to take a picture of my costume next time we have a program.
Saturday we started working on the field to prepare for summer so the cows have food in the dry season. I worked with the angels or the little boys. Let me tell you, they are the funniest bunch of little boys ever. They range in age from 5-12 I think. They had me laughing all day. Their job was to spread fertilizer (manure) so we could plant grass for the cows. Haha They loved it! They think they are big boys so they wanted their little buckets at full as possible but they could barely carry it. Dragging it most of the way. My job was to haul the sacks of manure from one gate to where they were, not a far distance but far enough. I think I hauled about 40 sacks. I would guesstimate they were between 40-60lbs each. I carried them philippino style by throwing them. The medium sized boys would help me lift it then throw it on my back and carry it that way. I am so sore and itchy. I think there is a grass I am allergic too. Even my fingers are tired from holding the sacks then dumping them out for the boys. I keep having to take breaks from typing this. Sad I know. But all in all, I had a lot of fun with the boys moving the manure!
I think that is it for this week. Have a blessed week. I will keep you all in my prayers as Christmas approaches, that it is not overwhelming.
God bless, Till next time,
Kelsey
Sounds like your having a great time. By the time you get back you can come up and help Troy with his cows. Stay safe kiddo. Love, Grandpa
